Neighbourhood development Mainzer Strasse, Wiesbaden
The property on Mainzer Strasse, which is continues to be used as a hypermarket, is within walking distance of the railway station and lies directly on the southern edge of Wiesbaden’s city centre. The positive progress of urban development in Wiesbaden seems to have overlooked this property in recent years: it is located in the heart of the city, directly on the heavily frequented main access road coming from the south. There is a gap between prominent neighbourhood developments that will be filled with new ideas.
In an internal architectural competition, the Lüder Group, together with the Carlton Group, developed ideas for completely redeveloping the site in several stages, taking into account the layout of the site and other framework conditions.
The first step is to create a modern centrally-positioned hypermarket with complementary retail units, specialist stores, a hotel and offices and residential space. The urban integration of the new quarter plays a dominant role.
The coordination with the city of Wiesbaden and other parties involved is very constructive, so that the project can begin quickly.
Current project volume is more than € 100 million.
